Global China Sourcing is included in procurement strategies for our clients and projects to deliver cost and schedule advantage.
Realizing cost and schedule advantage from low cost countries requires re-assessment of risk profiles for projects, especially in relation to performance guarantees and warranties, standards compliance, quality and schedule.
Material and equipment valued at more than $300 million has been dispatched through the China sourcing hub since its establishment in 2005.
Volumes have consistently grown from $0.2 million in 2005, to about $35 million in 2006, $25 million in 2007, and $120 million in 2008. Committed dispatches for 2009, 2010 & 2011 are currently about $120 million, $195 million and $60 million respectively. Committed dispatches into 2010 and 2011 represent long lead items for major projects – they are already significant.
