Hatch to study CO2 miscible flooding in France

Hatch has been retained by Vermilion Resources Ltd to develop the scope, facility sizing and estimates for a 100 t/d pilot plant and a 1,100 t/d commercial plant for the Chaunoy CO2 miscible flood enhanced oil recovery project at St. Mery, in the Seine et Marne District, France.

The Hatch project scope includes central facilities, pipelines, well sites and remote production separation facilities.

Vermilion has requested a definition of the potential capital and operating costs for the facilities required to capture CO2 from available sources in the area, transport it via pipeline, inject it into the formation, separate the entrained CO2 from the produced oil and recycle it to the reservoir.

Vermilion wants to extend the economic life of the Chaunoy oil field. The data produced in this conceptual (FEL 1) study will be used by Vermilion in its financial model for the asset, in order to determine the economic viability of a CO2 miscible flood for enhanced oil recovery from the field.

Hatch will provide Vermilion with extensive expertise in the implementation of pilot and commercial scale CO2 miscible flood projects, and studies for the flooding of mature oil reservoirs.

The FEL 1 study work is scheduled for completion in August.

Hatch Calgary is undertaking the assignment.
