Hatch helps upgrade water pump stations

Hatch has been retained by Wingecarribee Shire Council to provide conceptual designs for the upgrade of water supply pump stations in Bundanoon, New South Wales, Australia. The Council has requested the work be done because operational issues are being experienced at the three pump stations.

The Wingecarribee Shire Council is the local authority for the Southern Highlands in New South Wales. The Council’s responsibilities include the provision of water and sewerage services for a population of 45,000.

Hatch will conduct the necessary investigations and provide conceptual designs for:

Bundanoon WTP Raw Water Pump Station:

  • Replace No.1 and No.2 pumps with higher-capacity pumps to match the capacity of the WTP individually for current and future demands.
  • Replace pipework to suit new pumps and incorporating low friction sweeping bends and fittings.
  • Install VSD’s for all three pumps.
  • Replace/upgrade SCADA, telemetry and electrical equipment as required.

Bundanoon WTP Clear Water Pump Station:

  • Install VSD’s for all three pumps.
  • Replace/upgrade SCADA, telemetry and electrical equipment as required.

Werai Pump Station:

  • Replace No. 3 pump with a higher-capacity pump to match the other pump stations and system requirements.
  • Review the suitability of existing two pumps from the Wingecarribee WTP for Pump No.3.
  • Replace pipeworks to suit the new pump and incorporating low friction sweeping bends and fittings.
  • Install VSD’s for all three pumps.
  • Replace/upgrade electrical equipment as requirement.
  • Modify header tank and associated pipework to eliminate vortex problems.
  • Replace/upgrade SCADA, telemetry and electrical equipment as required.

The project is scheduled for completion in November.

The project follows work Hatch has completed for the Council on the verification of the design of the Church Road Sewerage Pump Station.

The Hatch office in Sydney, Australia is undertaking the assignment.
