Connell Hatch provides engineering for Wiggins Island Rail Loops
Connell Hatch has been retained by Queensland Rail to provide environmental studies and detail engineering for the Wiggins Island Rail Loops. The assignment also includes preliminary engineering and further environmental studies for the proposed Aldoga Yard, Moura Link and modifications to the existing North Coast Line. The project is located north west of Gladstone, Queensland, Australia.
The assignment will consist of alignment design, general civil and structural investigations, hydrological studies, geotechnical investigations, risk review, cost estimating, scheduling, project management environmental studies and approvals primarily for the Rail Loops.
The client’s objective is to further define scope and cost estimates from the previous Moura Link – Aldoga Rail Project prior to the detail design phase. The detail engineering for the rail loops is a continuation of previous Connell Hatch work undertaken in association with the Wiggins Island Coal Terminal.
The studies are in response to increased future coal-haulage demand.
The assignment is scheduled for completion in June 2009.
The Connell Hatch office in Brisbane is undertaking the assignment.
