News Release: Hatch Group acquires QED Occtech Services Pty Limited
Mississauga, ON - March 13, 2009 - The Hatch Group, a global, multidisciplinary, engineering, procurement and construction management consultancy, is pleased to announce its acquisition of QED Occtech Services Pty Limited, a global fluid treatment and water technology business based in both Perth, Western Australia and Tampa, Florida.
The acquisition broadens Hatch 's capacity to provide a full-range of expert water services to the businesses of its mining, mineral processing, renewable power, and infrastructure clients. At the same time the merger of Hatch's water services with those of QED, allows QED to participate in major industrial and production expansion projects, backed by Hatch’s resources of 9,000 employees in 65 offices in every region of the world.
QED CEO, Peter Snowsill says: “We see this as a great cultural and business fit; Hatch’s global presence, reputation and engineering prowess harnesses QED’s specialist fluid treatment competence to offer broader coverage and improved value to our clients.”
QED’s Perth team will be integrated into Hatch’s Australian operations whilst the Tampa group will form part of Hatch’s North American operations.
QED provides services in conceptualisation, technology development, equipment supply and whole-of-life operations and maintenance.
With an international reputation in the mineral processing industry, QED employs 50 staff in its offices in Perth and Tampa. It has resource-recovery expertise and a strong history in developing and applying membrane technology for both industrial water and desalination applications.
