Abstract
The flicker and harmonics generated by electric arc furnaces present a problem well known to both the steel industry and electrical utilities. This paper describes the system design used in the development of a Power Quality Analyser (PQA). The PQA can be used for suring electrical power quality parameters such as: voltage, current and power unbalances, flicker, harmonies, and active and reactive power fluctuations. Network support is provided, allowing the PQA to be used not only as field equipment, but also as a remotely monitored unit. Demonstration results from a prototype unit are presented.
