Abstract
Practical mining cutbacks form the backbone of schedules that result in an operations cash flow. Using conventional Whittle software a diamond pipe was optimised, in applying the minimum mining width module, the cutbacks that were identified were not considered to be practical for the operation. An alternative solution was required. Based on the ultimate pit defined by the optimisation a number of internal target optimisations were conducted, that when re-nested produced a cutback geometry that could be scheduled.
