Abstract
Accurate prediction of plant output capacity in the metallurgical industry is essential when modifications or additions are considered for an existing plant or when designing an entirely new facility.
Computer based models of plants have been developed to predict plant production figures with high accuracy. The models represent plant operating conditions with sufficient detail to allow evaluation of different layouts, capacities of equipment and operating strategies to obtain the optimum output from a plant. Simulation of operations of metallurgical plants is a powerful tool used in the design of new or expanded facilities.
