Abstract
With the serious pressure on global metals and mineral resources there is a major push to introduce more efficient and effective technologies to the mining and extractive industries. To meet market demands it is necessary to extract more from existing mines and resources and to convert uneconomic reserves into economic and profitable production operations.
The paper that follows highlights a few key developments in mine planning, mining equipment systems and metal production process technologies. In all cases the key drivers include better utilization of resources and lowered environmental and social impacts.
