Abstract
Two-phase evaporative flow in many industrial processes is characterised by relatively high downstream velocities. Such high velocities cause wear in slurry pipelines and equipment due to the hydraulic transport of solids. A practical and reliable means of quantifying two-phase flow behaviour has been developed based on various models found in the literature describing two-phase flow behaviour. The model developed enables piping designers to determine the location in the pipework where two-phase flow commences, and allows the designers to limit the velocities in the piping system and its components.
