Capacity Creep Considerations for a Typical Carbon Plant
Author: D.Glover
Light Metals 2005, 134th TMS Annual Meeting, San Francisco, USA; February, 2005

Abstract

Many smelters have been pursuing capactiy creep to improve their economic position. As the amperage has been raised, the demand for raw materials such as power, alumina, and carbon has increased. Anode supply has become a contraint for many smelters and this paper is a discussion of the options, challenges and opportunities available to smelters considering increasing their capactiy.
