Abstract
The global market for hollow rock drill bars can estimated to 120 000 - 140 000 tons per year, table 1. There are a number of minor suppliers, and a few large ones, and even by the large supplies, hollow rock drills are commonly only a minor product, but one with signigicant potential for profits. Due the low volumes, even by the major suppliers, the capital cost for a seperate mill for rolling hollow rock drill will be high, and especially in Japan, China and Russia, but also in other countries, new technologies have been employed to produce rock drills.
