Abstract
Benefit based pricing is a relatively new concept that allows the client and the vendor to share both the risk and the revenues associated with the implementation of a new decision support and control system. The main technical issue lies in the fair detertnination of the benefits, and as a result a normalized measure of system performance is proposed. The method is generic and based on a statistical post analysis of the operation. The influence of the key operating parameters, such as the system demand, lambda values, natural inflows and unit availability are discussed. Examples of some typical behavior encountered in the course of case studies are shown. A dedicated study tool under the name of AutoVista, used in the later part of the analysis has been found to greatly facilitate the process.
