Nils Voermann joined Hatch in 1989 as a Mechanical Engineer. In 2003 he was appointed to Global Managing Director – Technologies where he is responsible for the technical and commercial performance of more than 150 engineers and designers in the Furnace, Hydromet, Steel Mill, Advanced Controls, Electrotechnologies, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Energy Technologies and Technologies Development/Commercialisation groups. In 2005 Mr. Voermann was nominated to the Hatch Board of Directors.
Mr. Voermann is a graduate of Queen’s University where he received his Hons. B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering and from INSEAD where he received his M.B.A. Mr. Voermann has approximately 20 published technical papers on various aspects of metallurgical process plants and equipment, holds several patents and has received various awards including the CANMET Technology Transfer Award and the TMS Extraction and Processing Award.
Professional affiliations include member of the Professional Engineers Ontario and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).
