Joe Lombard joined Hatch in 2006 as one of the world's foremost authorities on the design and construction of aluminum smelters with more than 20 years direct experience in the development and expansion of several metallurgical facilities in Europe, North America and South Africa. Mr. Lombard was elected to the Hatch Board of Directors in the same year.
As a graduate of the University of Pretoria where he earned a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.Comm Hons from the University of South Africa. Joe is responsible for light metals project planning, costing and technology assessments. His extensive smelter operating project experience has been central in directing and managing project specialist teams.
Before joining Hatch in 2006 as Global Managing Director, Light Metals, Joe was president and CEO of Aluminerie Alouette, the largest aluminum smelter in the Americas, and was responsible for the recent $1.5 billion expansion of the facility in Sept-Iles, Québec.
